Deadline : 3rd of August 2013
The symposium will take place on 3rd and 4th of October 2013 at the School of Design and Art at Curtin University in Perth, Australia. The debate will discuss the role of aesthetics in the development of a sustainable world : ” How might an understanding of aesthetics impact upon our understanding of a sustainable world, and does the meta – project of sustainability have an aesthetic dimension?” This conference wishes to address what a sustainable world might look, feel and sound like, and wishes to raise how important those qualities might be to ‘solidifying’ sustainability in the cultural as well as the material realm. John Thakara, director of Doors of Perception and author of twelve books including In The Bubble: Designing In A Complex World and Wouldn’t It Be Great If… will be the keynote speaker.
