Symposium + Film Series

A three-day event gathering together artists, scholars and curators examining the mediated and aesthetic dimensions of human-made infrastructures that shape almost every aspect of modern life. Exploring data centers, oil pipelines, securitized border zones, waste treatment plants and more, 12 presentations and 17 films ask the question: what are the juridical, economic, bio-political and aesthetic dimensions of our accelerating age of extraction and consumption?
Featured are a keynote lecture and screening by Swiss filmmaker Ursula Biemann, and a rare screening of Bernardo Bertolucci’s 1967 documentary The Path of Oil.
